Full marks for the new Land Rover Discovery Sport

Reviews for the new Land Rover Discovery Sport have begun to roll in and the general consensus is clear – the new seven-seat 4x4 is an unqualified success.

Land Rover’s latest model has built on its already considerable reputation as a market leader with a number of technological tweaks and fresh styling touches.

We’ve took a peak for the latest reviews and have picked out some of the best quotes for you to check out.

Speaking on the ride quality in the Discovery Sport, motoring correspondent for the Guardian, Martin Love, said, “Relaxed, responsive, powerful… a genuine joy. You sit high, commanding the road. The steering is silky; that diesel is tenacious and unfaltering. It’s the sort of car that makes you wish your destination was further away”.

Sam Phillip, from the BBC’s Top Gear website, was equally captivated, “Impressively civilised on road, with barely a lick of wind or road noise even at motorway speed. In terms of refinement, this is a quantum leap forward from the Freelander, and a whole lot better to drive, too.”

“The steering is, for an SUV, surprisingly sharp around the straight-ahead, imbuing the Discovery Sport with an unexpectedly, well, sporty demeanour without the iron ride of some of its German rivals.”

Adding, “Like the Evoque, the damping is taut without veering into crashy, the Sport staying composed in fast corners, feeling more car than seven-seat SUV. It's a satisfying thing to drive fast, if that's your soft-roader bent.”

CAR Magazine were blown away with the Discovery Sport’s interior, saying, “It’s only when you’re sitting in the Discovery Sport that you appreciate the quality of the thing. This is a very well built car, one of the most beautifully finished cabins we’ve seen in this sector in ages.”

Adding, “The materials are well chosen and pleasing to touch; the rotary dials operate with deft precision; the plump leather upholstery sitting cheek-by-jowl with chunky rubber mats in our test car in Iceland.”

If you want to find out how good the new Discovery Sport is for yourself it is on sale now with prices starting from £32,395.
