Land Rover have made both their new Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque much more efficient thanks to their innovative Ingenium diesel engines.Following the engines launch in September 2014, the premium SUV’s will now offer improved performance and economy.
The 2.0 litre four-cylinder diesels engines are available with two power outputs, 150bhp and 180bhp. With the less powerful engine you can achieve up to 57.7mpg and you can still get an impressive 53.3mpg from the latter.
With these engines under the bonnet, the Discovery Sport and the Range Rover Evoque will be two of the most efficient compact SUVs that money can buy.
Thanks to the aluminium TD4 engines lightweight construction, with stiff cylinder blocks and decoupled injectors there is also low levels of vibration and noise intrusion in the cabin.
Additionally, Selective Catalytic Reduction and a new low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation system reduce both CO2 and NOx emissions.
If the most efficient engine is what you are looking for then the TD4 150hp with a blue ‘Sport’ or ‘Evoque’ badge is the one for you. These vehicle also feature 18-inch wheels with low rolling resistance tyres.
