Looking forward to 2015 with Land Rover

With Christmas and the New Year just around the corner – it’s a great time to see what exciting new vehicles and updates Land Rover has in store for 2015.

2014 has been a great year for Land Rover with the inaugural Defender Challenge Championship and Invictus Games both proving a great success, along with the spectacular launch of the new Discovery Sport at the Paris Motor Show.

Next year is shaping up to be just as exciting with the highly anticipated Land Rover Discovery Sport on the way as well as a Range Rover Evoque and maybe even a soft-top version!

Take a look below as we profile some of the highlights to come in 2015 from this most famous of British car makers.

Land Rover Discovery Sport

The first model from the new Discovery family, the Discovery Sport, will go on sale in the UK in January priced from £32,395.

Replacing the outgoing Freelander, the new model comes with four trim levels and seven seats in a flexible 5+2 configuration that has benefitted from a comprehensive redesign.

This new design approach runs through the entire revamped Discovery range and allows for optimised volume, proportions and stance.

The entire Discovery range comes with the same, all-aluminium four-cylinder 2.2-litre SD4 Diesel engine, linked with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard.

An all-new multi-link rear axle combined with supple long-travel suspension means the Discovery Sport is comfortable and sophisticated on-road, without losing the all-terrain capability, which the Land Rover brand is renowned for.

Several ingenious storage solutions are available inside, making this Discovery perfect for long family journeys. Up to four 12v power points and six USB sockets will allow everyone to keep their electronic devices charged throughout the trip.

Range Rover Sport SVR

The fastest SUV ever produced – the Range Rover Sport SVR will be capable of getting from 0-60mph in just 4.5 seconds and continue to an electronically limited top speed 162mph.

Topping the range of engines is the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine which manages to pump out a huge 680Nm through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and a four-wheel-drive chassis that has been specially optimised to deal with the outstanding performance.

The new Range Rover Sport SVR has been developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team and will be sold through the existing Land Rover dealer network.

Land Rover Evoque Cabriolet?

Rumours of a Range Rover convertible have been rumbling on for a number of years, especially since the 2012 Geneva Motor Show when the first concept model was unveiled.

Of course soft tops are nothing new to the Land Rover brand with the Defender range being available with a fabric roof for a number of years.

But a Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet would certainly take Land Rover soft-tops to new levels of comfort and style should it be released.

If the Range Rover Evoque Cabriolet was to be produced, it would almost certainly be in a class of its own – luxury SUV convertibles are thin on the ground - meaning this Range Rover would really make you stand out in the crowd!
