WWE Superstar John Cena surprised two Invictus Games competitors and their families with a memorable VIP chauffeur experience at the latest event in Florida.
As presenting partners for the Games, Jaguar Land Rover collected US team members Tino Ulli with his girlfriend Shari Trujillo, and Joshua Jablon and his girlfriend Lindsey Green, with Cena behind the wheel.
Hidden cameras were installed in the special edition Range Rover Sport SVR, with the reactions of the passengers caught on video, which can be viewed here.
In the event held 8th to 12th May, the world’s wounded, ill or injured service personnel competed in the Invictus Games, hosted at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. The pursuits included Athletics, Cycling, Wheelchair Rugby and Swimming, with Wheelchair Tennis introduced for the 2016 edition.
Cena also featured in the Invictus Games Closing Ceremony as he presented the ‘Land Rover Above and Beyond Award’ to the Georgian Sitting Volleyball team, who won bronze in the competition and showed the inspiring example of the Invictus spirit as both competitors and teammates.
Founded by Prince Harry in 2014, the Invictus Foundation has hosted two editions of the Games, with the first taking place in London in 2014, and JLR will continue to present the event into the third edition in Toronto next year.
JLR has been part of the Armed Forces Covenant since 2014, which promotes the employment and support of the Armed Forces community through a voluntary pledge. The company has employed over 200 former servicemen and women since 2013 having worked closely with the Career Transition Partnership, the Ministry of Defence’s official Armed Forces resettlement provider.
