As two of the most high-end brands in their respective fields, Zenith and Land Rover have two things in common: they produce luxury products to a very high standard; and they share an important landmark year.
In 1969, Land Rover introduced the Range Rover name, whilst watchmaker Zenith produced the first prototype of the world's first self-winding chronograph movement, called El Primero.
So to celebrate both of these important milestones, the two came together to produce a watch that epitomises both the Range Rover and the El Primero movement.
Called the Zenith El Primero Range Rover, this special edition watch was unveiled alongside the Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic, and it takes many attributes of design from the special edition Range Rover. With a matte slate grey dial, subtle sub-dials and easy-to-operate crown and push-pieces, you can tell there is inspiration from the Range Rover models with how the watch looks and how it is finished.
President and CEO of Zenith Alex Magada said:
"The match between our two brands is very strong. Zenith and Range Rover are both pioneers in our respective industries, and we both create unique, innovative products. Through timeless design, both brands express authentic luxury. The Zenith team is very excited to start this long-term partnership with Range Rover, another superb brand and kindred spirit."
Land Rover's chief design officer Gerry McGovern added:
"We looked to the reductive nature of a modern Range Rover interior and the Zenith team translated that into the dial of the watch, keeping it simple and unfussy. The matt finish simultaneously suggests understatement, sophistication and durability - like a Range Rover, it's an object you look at and immediately feel an emotional connection."
