New Zealander and Rugby Union great Dan Carter joined Land Rover at the seventh and penultimate round of the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series in Toulon.
Carter – who also recently became a global ambassador for Land Rover – was on hand to be the sixth man during the Sunday's racing to help Team Land Rover BAR to a third place finish over the weekend to maintain its lead in the challenger series standings.
The Toulon event also saw Welsh rugby star and British & Irish Lions full-back Leigh Halfpenny join as sixth man and the return of Rio Olympics gold medallist Giles Scott as team strategist.
In what turned out to be a successful event, Sir Ben Ainslie's BAR team now holds a 14-point advantage over Oracle Team USA in the standings before the final race in Japan in November.
Following the event, Carter said:
Sailing with the Land Rover BAR team was incredible, they were all apologising for the lack of wind and that the racing wouldn't be as exciting as it could be, but I absolutely loved it. I loved watching the team dynamics on board the boat and the lines of communication with the tactician. It was my first time and being with the Land Rover BAR team was a great adrenaline rush.
