As high performance and quality SUVs go, the Range Rover Sport SVR is up there with the very best.
With a 550bhp V8 engine, the SVR can get from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds on tarmac and can go on to a top speed of 162mph. That is very impressive in itself, but with Land Rovers having a reputation of performing to the highest level on pretty much any surface, Land Rover decided to test how quick the SVR could get from 0-60mph in a variety of conditions.
The tests will see exactly how well the Terrain Response 2 technology could work in conjunction with the extreme power of the V8 engine.
Using the standard fit Michelin 275/45 R21 All Season tyres and the innovative Terrain Response 2 system, Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations took the Range Rover Sport SVR to different terrains to see exactly how well it performs on surfaces with differing grip levels. Terrain Response intelligently analyses the grip levels of the surface, and when you select the condition setting on the rotary controller, the car sets itself up to perform to its best on that surface.
In the video below you will see exactly how well the Range Rover Sport SVR performs on the different terrains, with some of the times surprisingly close to its time set on tarmac.
Stability applications leader at JLR, Darren Jones, said:
“The Range Rover Sport SVR is famed for its on-road performance but this hasn’t been achieved at the expense of customary Land Rover capability. Our Terrain Response 2 technology takes the stress out of driving in all conditions.”
